This is the second time I have worked with Dana at ShechterCare post-surgery to treat breast cancer. Everyone on the staff greets you with open arms upon arrival and they remember exactly who you are and where you are in your treatment. The therapy and exercises that I’ve performed under Dana’s care always make me physically feel better and put me mentally at ease. Dana is incredibly knowledgeable and has helped me to understand exactly what my body is going through during the healing process. Thank you so much ShechterCare for being with me step by step during this journey.
Over the past months, I have found ShechterCare to be #1. As soon as you walk through the door you feel so comfortable and that everything will be okay.
As a breast cancer survivor with lymphedema I have been receiving OT at ShechterCare since the practice opened. I have only the highest of positive regard for this practice, from the receptionists to the OTs. They have consistently provided optimal care and the kindest emotional support whenever needed.
ShechterCare has been a positive experience for me. Jeffrey greets me cordially. The pump room, a totally new treatment for me, is relaxing and I feel better for it. (Thanks to Vanessa) Cynthia is showing very positive results with a different problem, thanks to her energetic treatment, her professional skills for patient care and her wide range of medical knowledge, excellent “people skills” and sense of humor are critical for successful treatment. Keep up the good work.
The best experience, best treatment that helps tremendously with lymphedema. Best people. Like a family to me.
I have known Cynthia since 2006 when I went to her 40th ST office. She is extremely thorough in her lymphedema treatment. Cynthia also teaches her survivors how to wrap, which is very helpful in keeping lymphedema in check. Sometimes I don’t wish to come in because I have to deal with Access-A-Ride service, but she always encourages me to come in for the treatment. I would say she is an A-1 person, very kind and considerate and an exceptional therapist.
I developed Lymphedema in my left arm 3 years after having lymph nodes removed during surgery. I searched for places that accepted my insurance and to my horror I found that most of the places didn't even know about Lymphedema. When I updated my search specifically for Lymphedema specialists, the top hit was ShecterCare! I was thrilled and they don't disappoint. The staff is warm and knowledgeable. My therapist was Dhanya and I adored her. They also have a wrapping technique that I find more effective than any compression sleeve I've tried. I am thankful for having found ShecterCare and to Cynthia (the owner) for realizing this is a serious condition that hasn't gotten the attention and service it deserves. If you're searching for a therapist; the search is over. Go to ShecterCare. You'll love everything about it.
Fantastic therapists with a very friendly staff. My weekly therapy really made a difference in my range of motion and helped reduce the swelling in my arm.
``Cynthia is by far THE BEST THERAPIST I have ever had for treating my lymphedema. She is a true hands on professional and knows how to remove the fluid quickly. I have had experience with other lymph therapists, and no one has even come close to her treatment technique. She is a very personable and a true business professional. Spending 45 minutes with Cynthia is not only good for treating your lymphedema...it is also good for treating your mind body and soul!`` Service Category: Lymphadema Therapy Year first hired: 2010 (hired more than once) Top Qualities: Great Results, Personable, Expert
After all the treatme nt at the hospital, I was exhausted and weak, inside and out. The battle had left me with scars and swelling, all kinds of weird sensations and a body that wasn't the one I had known. I was sort of crumpled up. The hospital people couldn't help me with this, wanted me to tackle it myself. Cynthia took this burden off my shoulders - literally and figuratively - by kindly explaining what was going on, why there was pain and swelling and what was causing the weird sensations, while applying expert OT techniques to the problems. I had hope again and I had the use of my limbs again.
Cynthia has created a treatment environment where the level of care is only surpassed by the level of caring. The hospital is great for chemo and radiation and tests but when it comes to helping me deal with the after effects of those things, like lymphedema and scar tissue and range of motion problems, I don't want someone in a white coat handing me a printout of exercises in a clinical setting. Cynthia and her team are experts in their field, clearly. But they concentrate on working with me in a manner that is comfortable for me and effective in my situation. They understand the challenges each person is dealing with and work with them accordingly. Plus, the new offices are beautiful, charming, and spacious with windows in every treatment room - almost spa-like. I always say that, when I see Cynthia, I leave not only in better health but actually feeling better, and relaxed.
I have undergone treatment for lymphedema with Cynthia Shechter for the past few years. I was fortunate in that when I first noticed that I had lyphedema my radiology doctor immediately suggested that I might want to treat it now. Because I not only did get treatment and still do get treatment, did the exercises every day (which I still do), I have been able to continue with my life in a normal way. It should be noted that I also had a lymph node transfer and because of my treatment with Ms. Shechter, my diligence in doing my exercises and my doctors’ skill, I am able to reduce by ½ the number of treatments I must go for in a year. At first I was seen 2 to 3 times a week and now am seen every other week. It is important to note that no matter how well you wrap, the treatment of lymphatic massage is of paramount importance so seeing a qualified therapist is essential just as doing the daily exercise is important.
Cynthia is more than an occupational therapist. She and her staff has become a part of my family. They understand flexible schedule and accommodate any way they can. Not only does Cynthia take care of the physical she also takes care of the mental. Prepping you for what's to come next in treatment, recommending doctors if need be and really getting you back on your feet. After my double mastectomy I could barely sit up straight or walk. My appointment gave me a goal to get stronger. Cynthia and her team are always available for questions and are a great resource.
